Holiday package firm takes tourists for a ‘ride'

Economic Offence Cell of Goa Police has booked two directors of a company called ‘Omega Leisure and Hospitality Pvt Ltd' for duping 387 ‘clients' since November 2016 under the pretext of offering them holiday packages.
Faiyaz Nawab of Powai, Mumbai and Prajwal Shetty of Bandra (West) have been booked for hatching a criminal conspiracy under the pretext of providing holiday packages to the tourists visiting Goa. The duo accepted money as ‘membership fees' from these unsuspecting victims and thereafter, failed to provide the promised holiday packages.
At present, the police have identified five such persons who have been duped by the accused to the tune of Rs 4.79 lakh among themselves. The losses sustained by them range from Rs 51,000 to Rs 1.76 lakh each.
"There are transactions of crores of rupees deposited in the bank account of the company and we are receiving many complaints against the company," an EOC officer informed.
The matter came to light after Calangute Police received several complaints over emails from tourists who visited Goa. Following a preliminary inquiry by Calangute Police, it was found that a company ‘Club Omega Holiday' was established in 2014 at Whispering Palms, Anjuna and at Nagoa Grande, Arpora. The company closed down its business in March 2016.
Accused Nawab then set up a company called ‘Omega Leisure and Hospitality Pvt Ltd' in December 2015 and started a business under the name ‘Omega World Vacations' in Hotel Placido de Goa at Candolim. This business was shut down in November 2016. In December 2016, Nawab once again set up a new business called ‘Clube Dr Ferias' which continues to remain operational till date.

Asked to take a membership worth a particular amount through debit or credit cards
Tourists fail to receive benefits of this package
Presently, police have identified five persons who have been duped
Losses sustained range from ` 51,000 to ` 1.76 lakh each
