A Honda resident has approached the Valpoi Police alleging that his name and forged signature were used to submit a complaint to the North Goa Collectorate against 10 houses constructed by villagers in the area.
Rupesh Poke has claimed that he did not file or authorise any such complaint and that an unidentified person misused his name and allegedly forged his signature to complain that the houses were illegal.
Poke has sought a detailed investigation to identify the person or persons responsible and demanded appropriate legal action if the allegations are found to be true. He has also requested that the matter be handed over to the Crime Branch for a comprehensive inquiry.
The issue came to light after the houses mentioned in the complaint were inspected by the Talathi. Following the inspection, some of the affected residents reportedly contacted Poke, who then learnt that a complaint had been submitted to the Collectorate in his name.
Poke has maintained that he had no connection with the complaint and was unaware that his name was being used in the matter. He has alleged that the incident has affected his reputation while also causing concern among the owners of the 10 houses.
According to Poke, the authenticity of the complaint and the signature appearing on it need to be verified. He has called for the original complaint, the signature, date of submission and details of the person who submitted it to be examined. Relevant records maintained by the concerned government office should also be checked to establish how the complaint was received and processed, he has said.
Poke has reportedly provided the investigating authorities with the names of certain persons whom he suspects may have information about the matter. However, the role of any individual can only be established through an official investigation.
The affected homeowners have also expressed concern over the administrative process triggered by the complaint. Residents have sought clarity on the identity of the actual complainant, the documents submitted to the authorities and the status of the proceedings concerning their houses.
Poke has further sought the intervention of the local MLA, requesting that the matter be taken up with the concerned authorities and that the affected residents should not face unnecessary hardship. He has called for the proceedings concerning the houses to be handled transparently until the authenticity of the complaint is established.
A key aspect of the inquiry will be determining whether the signature on the complaint is genuine or forged and identifying the person who submitted the document. Examination of the original records and, if required, technical verification of the signature could help establish the facts.
Poke has also urged the authorities to examine whether there was any specific reason for the 10 houses to be targeted through the complaint.
The allegations have generated concern in Honda, with residents awaiting the outcome of the police inquiry. Poke has reiterated that he did not submit the complaint and that his name was allegedly used without his knowledge or consent.
The allegations remain subject to official verification. The findings of the inquiry are expected to determine whether the complaint was genuinely filed by Poke or whether his identity and signature were misused, and whether any offence was committed in the process.
