Honouring freedom fighter Pandurang Kerkar from Bicholim

Pandurang Dulba Kerkar was born on June 29, 1939 in Bicholim and his legacy is preserved at the ‘Aguad Interactive Museum: Goa - The Land, The Struggle, The People’ in Sinquerim. Kerkar was an active member of the National Congress Goa (NCG), who bravely participated in the freedom movement. He affixed posters, hoisted the Tricolour and distributed pamphlets. In 1956, he helped place gelatine at the Shirgaon mines along with 35 other associates. Arrested and jailed from June to September 1956, he later escaped to Dodamarg to join the Goa Liberation Army (GLA). He was also a government employee by profession.
