In a development that may bring Directorate of Health Services and Dr R Venkatesh, owner of Dialysis unit face to face again, Hospicio Medical Superintendent Dr Ira Almeida has set 48 hours for Dr Venkatesh to vacate the room occupied in the TB hospital.
In a letter addressed to Dr Venkatesh, a copy of which was left on the door of the room occupied by the doctor at the TB hospital, the Hospicio medical superintendent made it clear that the Directorate of Health Services intends to set up an isolation ward for COVID-19 patients in the room.
Dr Ira’s letter was dispatched to Dr Venkatesh on Friday following instructions received from the
Directorate of Health Services. While setting the 48-hour deadline on Dr Venkatesh to vacate the room, the
Hospicio medical superintendent said the hospital will take necessary action to vacate the room if he fails to do so within the deadline.
Dr Ira pointed out the ward used to house the swine flu suspected patients will be utilised to set up
the isolated ward of coronavirus suspects once the room is vacated as per the instructions.
