Porvorim Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi has requested hotel owners and managers of guest houses located within the jurisdiction of Porvorim Police station to compulsorily install CCTV cameras at the reception and surrounding areas of the hotels and guest houses.
PI Dalvi issued the directions at a meeting of hotel owners and managers of hotels and guest houses located within the jurisdiction of Porvorim Police station, in view of 'Sagar Kavach' exercise to be conducted on April 28 and 29.
In all, 29 officials from different hotels and guest houses attended the meeting.
During the discussion, PI Dalvi informed that the Sagar Kavach exercise was basically being carried out in view of the state's preparedness regarding terrorism threats and national security.
He briefed those attending the meeting about the measures to be taken.
PI Dalvi said hoteliers should install CCTV cameras compulsorily at the reception and surrounding areas of hotel and guest houses. “The hotel staff should properly check ID cards of the customers during check-in and ensure that the customer furnish the copy of valid photo ID with complete address,” he said.
“The hoteliers should also deploy security guards round the clock and share information with the police to enable them to take necessary action,” added PI Dalvi.
