City-based hoteliers and eatery owners have offered their wholehearted cooperation to the Margao Municipal Council in taking the waste segregation exercise at source to its logical conclusion.

At a meeting with the MMC Chairperson Babita Prabhudesai and Chief Officer Sidhivinayak Naik held in the civic body on Tuesday to work out a solution to the problem of segregation of waste at source, the hoteliers led by President C P Jaggi offered their full cooperation to the civic body in segregating their waste at source.

“We are happy that the MMC Chairperson invited the hoteliers for discussion, which gave us an opportunity to place our grievances concerning waste segregation,” Jaggi told the media after the meeting.

He said the hoteliers have requested the civic body to explore the possibility of collecting dry waste from the establishments on a daily basis instead of alternate days. “The Chairperson has given us an audience and we hope that our issues will be resolved at the earliest,” he added.
