CANACONA
Burglars broke into a house in Tamnem-Loliem during the day and stole gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 40,000.
Pandurang Pagi and his wife had left their house in the morning. Around 10 am, a man wearing a white helmet rode a motorcycle to their house.
The burglar reportedly broke the lock of the main door and then opened cupboards inside the house to steal the gold ornaments and cash. Neighbours didn’t realise the Pagis were away. They heard noises from the house but thought workers were there.
When Pandurang Pagi’s son returned from school, he found the house’s lock broken and the door open.
He suspected burglary and informed his parents, who were in Canacona town.
The Canacona police were called, and they conducted a panchnama at the house.
Later, the police reviewed CCTV footage from Poinguinim Bazaar.
It’s suspected that the burglar, familiar with the area, targeted the house knowing it was empty.
Canacona police confirmed no FIR had been filed yet.
“An FIR will be filed after a thorough investigation,” said a police source.
