A major fire gutted a house in Narayan Nagar, Honda-Sattari, on Thursday evening, causing extensive damage to property.
The fire, which started around 5 pm, was brought under control after about half an hour of efforts by the fire brigade. However, the situation worsened when the same house caught fire again around 8 pm. The fire brigade once again responded and managed to control the flames. The fire has now been completely extinguished.
All household belongings were completely destroyed, resulting in a severe financial setback to the family of Nagnath. The exact cause of the fire is still unknown, but locals described the extent of damage as devastating and stepped forward to support the affected family. They have also demanded financial assistance for the affected family.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, who was on a visit to inspect various development works in the area, visited the site and consoled the family. He assured that a survey of the damage would be conducted and necessary financial aid would be provided. He also stated that repair or reconstruction of the house would be considered, if feasible.
Nagnath has been earning his livelihood for many years by repairing truck spare parts. With the sudden fire destroying everything, the family is now facing a serious livelihood crisis.
The exact assessment of losses and property saved in both incidents is yet to be determined.
