House gutted in fire at Mapusa

Household items were gutted in a fire due to a short circuit at Dangi Colony in Mapusa on Saturday night.

According to reports, the incident took place at about 8 pm when Shubhangi Asolkar (70) and her daughter were at home. A fire broke out due to a short circuit and neighbours rushed to the spot after noticing the fire. Shubhangi and her daughter were safely evacuated from their residence.

A fire tender from the Mapusa fire station went to the site and extinguished the fire. Electronic equipment, clothes and other household appliances in the house were destroyed in the fire, causing a loss of about ₹3 lakh.
