PONDA: A house at Devulwada-Borim was partially destroyed in a fire on Saturday afternoon.
The fire services was informed about the incident on Saturday afternoon and a fire brigade rushed to the site and extinguished the fire. However, the narrow access made it difficult for the fire tender to pass through and a smaller fire tender was then pressed into service.
Some household items belonging to the house owner Purushottam Bhoi were destroyed in the fire. While the house owner claims to have sustained losses to the tune of Rs 60,000, the fire services said they saved property worth Rs 2 lakh from getting destroyed in the fire.
