The minister has also interacted with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar about the possibility of purchasing vast tracts of land to set up such townships in different parts of the State.
"Under this new township scheme, all houses will have common design and the same colour, House owners will not have the right to undertake external changes and modifications, but will only be allowed internal modifications," said Salgaonkar.

"The same architecture will be a feature on all houses in the township, while all houses will have tiled roofs. Various business establishments, educational institutes and entertainment facilities will be included in the township project," the minister added.
Incidentally, the concept of colour-coded houses was first suggested by Salgaonkar's party leader and
TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai shortly after the formation of the BJP-led government in the State.
Sardesai took inspiration from the Greek holiday capital Mykonos, suggesting that people could be given incentives to use traditional colours to paint their homes.
According to media reports, it is mandatory for residents to paint their homes in white colour with a blue fringe in Mykonos, a popular Greek island.
Sardessai had suggested that those owning houses and commercial projects could be given incentives to use traditional Goan colors like blue, red, green to paint the facades of their respective constructions," he said.
The TCP minister had conceived the idea of colour-coded houses in Goa after remarking that many housing and construction projects were losing the local charm and character, while the architecture was not in tune with the culture and heritage of the State.
