Going organic

Going organic
Captured by : pg 4 - pre

A lot of attention is given to the fact that the quality of vegetables we eat is deteriorating. But this is equally true for our diet of fruits - which now include New Zealand apples and Chinese oranges.

Since the rains have arrived, its the perfect time to start thinking about and planting fruit trees in your gardens, because they require no watering and have an easier time establishing healthy root networks. With just a little bit of effort, you can easily enjoy fruits like papaya, chikoo, pomegranates, guava, mangoes, mulberry, lemons and many more from pots in your own terrace, balcony or garden. So to help you out, Green Essentials and the Xavier Center for Historical Research, are organising a workshop on growing fruits organically in pots on July 24, 3 pm onwards.

The workshop will help you learn how to achieve and maintain healthy organic soil, understand the appropriate tips for regular care and nutrition for your trees, learn how and when to prune fruit trees correctly, how to propagate your favourite fruit trees via air layers and how to deal with pests and diseases organically. Pre-registration is compulsory for this session
