Hundreds of lower income families can now think seriously about their dream houses, with the Planning and Development Authority (PDA) giving sanction to a housing project to build 1,700 flats in Colvale and hoping to start construction work soon.
The PDA has also given its sanction to other housing projects at Davorlim and Bicholim, said Housing Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar.
The project at Colvale, which remained on paper since the five years, took concrete shape with the PDA recently cleared the file pertaining to this project.
The project will cost about Rs 300 crore, of which the State government has sanctioned a Rs 100 crore interest-free loan to the Goa Housing Board, sources said.
According to Salgaonkar, the housing project will consist of 1,043 single bedroom flats and 656 double bedroom flats.
"Construction of the housing project at Colvale will start soon. After it is
completed, work on the other housing projects at
Davorlim and Dhargalim will be taken on priority," the minister added.
