All attention is focused on the Sunday meeting called by the Chandor panchayat to deliberate threadbare all issues concerning railway level crossing and how to overcome the traffic snarls when the crossing is closed for traffic.

The neighbouring Guirdolim gram sabha had last month settled for an underpass at the level crossing with a plea to raise the height of the proposed subway to three meters. The Guirdolim gram sabha had also resolved to write to the collector to give a written undertaking that the authorities will take up work on the underpass after completing a road over bridge around a kilometer and half away.
Chandor sarpanch Celina Furtado said she has called for a joint meeting of the Chandor and Guirdolim Panchayat members and villagers on Sunday at the Chandor Panchayat hall to discuss the issue threadbare. Invitation has been sent to the local Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias and the MLA representing the neighbouring Curchorem constituency Nilesh Cabral to attend the meeting.
"The joint meeting will deliberate on the contentious issue of the level crossing at Chandor and the traffic woes. The neighbouring Guirdolim panchayat has also been invited for the meeting," she said. The Chandor sarpanch, however, declined to comment when her attention was drawn to the Guirdolim gram sabha resolution demanding an underpass at the level crossing.
Incidentally, at the last Chandor Gram Sabha, many members had raised the question whether the authorities had explored the possibility of constructing a flyover at the railway level crossing instead of an underpass. Chandor gram sabha members had vehemently opposed the State Highway passing through the village, fearing that the highway will only destroy the heritage houses along the road.
