The GHAG members on getting information that a housing project is coming up on comunidade property behind Saligao-Pilerne Seminary rushed to the site and were shocked to find plots were being demarcated in the eco-sensitive zone marked in Regional Plan 2021.
GHAG member Prajal Sakhardande said they received information from sources that a project of 60 houses was coming up in the eco-sensitive comunidade property.
“As per comunidade rules, housing projects are not permitted on its land. Since demarcation of the plots has been done, it is evident that housing project is being planned in this property,” he said.
“It is not known who is constructing this housing project, but in any case we will
oppose this project,” said Sakhardande.
When contacted, administrator of Saligao Panchayat, Eknath Oroskar said the panchayat has not yet received any proposal from anyone for the construction of housing project in the said comunidade property.
