The Higher Secondary Teachers’ Association (HISTAG) has supported the State government’s decision to start the new academic year from April 1 in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The resolution, which was proposed by the Association’s President Babaji Sawant, was unanimously passed at the association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Ponda on February 16.
The members expressed the belief that this transition could facilitate better coordination with national education reforms and implementation of the recommendations of the NEP. They averred that the main objective of the NEP 2020 is to promote a stress-free and student-friendly education system.
Since the past few years, many higher secondary schools have been informally starting classes in April. Formalising this as part of the academic calendar will ensure consistency and uniformity across all institutions, the association felt.
The AGM also discussed organising a mega educational and cultural festival for higher secondary teachers on April 29. The aim of this festival is to promote educational collaboration, encourage cultural expression, and facilitate professional networking among teachers.
