The Hyderabad police are in no mood to give up on its hunt for Edwin Nunes and other alleged drug peddlers in Goa, as they are strongly contemplating seeking judiciary's intervention for custody of these wanted men.
While Anjuna's Pritesh Borkar and owner of Hill Top Goa nightclub John Stephen D'Souza aka Steve have gone through several rounds of questioning, the Osmania University police are however facing a tough time to lay their hands on Edwin, the alleged owner of the controversial beach shack restaurant Curlies.
Purported non-cooperation from the local police has been a major setback considering that the counterparts are not well versed with the State's demography and criminals' possible hideouts.
"We will take the help of the legal system to ensure not just Edwin but all those wanted in our case are arrested. We are not going to forget him even if Goa police does," said an officer with the Osmania police.
Edwin, among 174 wanted peddlers and dealers in the drug bust registered, has refused to surrender before the police despite the Metropolitan Court and the High Court of Telangana at Hyderabad dismissing his anticipatory bail applications. Fearing the period of his custody in Hyderabad will be extended as is the case with Pritesh Borkar and Steve, the controversial restaurnteur has moved the Supreme Court for relief.
The Hyderabad police had recently and yet again expressed their disappointment over the Goa police's alleged non-cooperation, as a result of which the team flew back to its state without any further breakthrough. The State police has denied the allegation arguing they are also looking out for Edwin in another offense where he is charged with submitting fake Covid certificate to the police.
Goa police, on the other hand, are soon to head for Hyderabad in connection with a drug seizure at Siolim. The Secunderabad youth, caught with MDMA powder, has confessed to having peddled drugs to the coastal state from four persons living in his home State.
"We would seek the help of Hyderabad Police. Goa Police arrests people of many States but we don't blame that State Police for their activities," one of the officers in Goa said.
