After last week’s inspection of the Margao Old Bus Stand, officials of the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) on Wednesday conducted an inspection of the fast food gaddas operating on the bus stand in the evenings.
Interestingly, the Margao Municipal Inspectors, sources said, are yet to descend on the bus stand and stop the owners from taking away the gaddas from the bus stand after business hours.
FDA officials went around the fast food gaddas at the Old bus stand and checked the licences as well as the hygiene maintained by the owners. The FDA officials are believed to have issued instructions to the fast food kiosks to serve the food items in disposable plates and spoons as part of hygiene.
The FDA officials are further believed to have told the gadda owners to cover the food items.
This is the first time after last week’s inspection that the FDA officials have descended at the old bus stand to check the hygiene at the fast food kiosks.
Surprisingly, the Margao Municipal inspectors seemed to have turned a blind eye to the illegal parking of the fast food gaddas on the bus stand after business houses. While MMC officials maintained that the license conditions mandated the gadda owners to tow away the gaddas to their place of residence after business hours.
