I don’t copy Kejriwal, he copies me: Sawant

PANAJI

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is copying me and not the other way round, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Wednesday, lashing out at the Aam Aadmi Party national convenor's charge that the Goa government was duplicating initiatives of its government in the national capital.

It is he who is copying me," Sawant told reporters on the sidelines of a Department of Social Welfare function here.

"Our government does what it says, unlike others who only talk. Whatever I say, I do it," Sawant also said.

On Wednesday, Kejriwal had taunted Sawant, accusing the latter of duplicating the initiatives of his government in Delhi.

"I believe that whatever is happening in Delhi, he (Sawant) is copying it in Goa. When the original is available, why do you need a duplicate? When the people of Goa can vote for the original, why do you need a duplicate? The duplicate person will end up doing gadbad (confusion)," Kejriwal had said.

Sawant said that Kejriwal's promise to provide reservation for Goans in 80 per cent private-sector jobs, was an initiative that the Goa government has already put in place through its Model Career Centre in October last year.

"They have not given more than 450-500 jobs for the past five years (in Delhi). What jobs is he going to give here? First, he should provide jobs in Delhi, which is also facing unemployment and then speak about Goa," Sawant said.

"I was the first to start a Model Career Centre (MCC), the apprenticeship scheme, the fellowship scheme among others. My government started facilitating private jobs not now, it started sometime back. Jobs have been facilitated through the MCC at Godrej, Colgate, Merck. They (companies) have already placed orders for jobs," Sawant also said.

The Chief Minister also said that the AAP was promising the "sun and the moon" because the party knows that they would not come to power in Goa.
