Stating that outcome of an election depends on number of issues, Cabinet Advisory Committee member and senior BJP leader, Francis D’Souza, said if the elections were held now then both the Lok Sabha seats in the State will go to BJP.
“If elections happen today I can safely say both our candidates will be victorious in North and South Goa. But when actual elections happen what will be the situation I don’t know,” D’Souza said to The Goan.
The Urban Development Minister said that election result depends on number of issues and all were not necessarily national.
“Elections are mostly fought on local issues. What issues will crop up when election actually takes place I don’t know. But as of today we are safe,” he added.
Expressing helplessness over the power scenario in the State, the Mapusa MLA said that electricity has always been a problem and will remain so.
“Our climatic condition is such. In the monsoon trees fall and snap overhead electricity wires. Then there is lightning... Last time
one of my transformers failed due to lightning strike…,”
he said.
He further said the power minister was on record that the department requires funds of Rs 1,700 crore
to put proper infrastructure in place.
