Construction of a new panchayat ghar, widening of the Gudi-Paroda road, besides power woes figured at the gram sabha of Paroda panchayat on Sunday.
The meeting chaired by Sarpanch Inacio Thereza also saw some of the gram sabha members raising the issue of registration of houses without completion of structures.
Cuncolim MLA, Clafacio Dias, who is a member of the gram sabha, placed before the panchayat a proposal to construct a panchayat ghar near the football ground at Gudi.
He informed the members that the sports department has been approached to provide land admeasuring 500 square meters to for the purpose. During the discussion, a couple of panchayat members expressed their reservations over the construction of the panchayat ghar at Gudi. The MLA, however, later told the media that the proposal found favour with most of the gram sabha members, adding that the panchayat will go ahead with the panchayat ghar construction near the football ground. On the question of road widening, he informed the gram sabha that he has proposed to the government for widening of the Gudi-Paroda road in two phases.
He said the first phase will cost the government around Rs four crore, adding that the balance work will be taken up in the second phase.
Power woes plaguing Paroda villagers also figured at the gram sabha. Given that Paroda gets power from both Quepem and Nessai feeders and that the Nessai feeder is overloaded, it was later decided that the village should receive power from the Quepem feeder after upgradation of the line.
