SANGUEM
The 33-year-old Government Office Complex at Sanguem which lacked lift facility since the time of its construction is likely to get a lift in the next three to four months if things move in the right direction and the PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar keeps his promise given to the people of Sanguem.
With the four-floor building premise having no lift, people from Sanguem led by former chairperson Sanjay Raikar made a representation to the PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar highlighting the problems envisaged by the people from Sanguem to visit the important government offices housed on the third and fourth floor.
Incidentally, though a provision was made to install a lift to the four-floor building premise at the time of its construction, the authorities failed in getting the lift installed even after 33 years.
The important government offices like the Water Supply and Roads and Bridges are housed on third and fourth floor respectively, and this puts the people of Sanguem into extreme hardship while visiting these offices. The situation is all the more worse in case of senior citizens who find it extremely hard to walk over 50 steps before they reach the concerned office.
Soon after having received the representation, the PWD Minister took the cognizance of the issue and sent a team of officials to work out modalities in getting the lift installed for the building premise.
Sources informed that a rough estimate is also prepared of Rs 20 lakh towards the cost of the lift which the authorities have assured in getting installed in the next three months.
Raikar along with others have thanked the PWD Minister for his immediate action in the matter.
