IFFI registration fee hit by price hike

From Rs 300 in 2019, it is now Rs 1,180

A price hike has not been restricted to fuel and other products, as registration fees have also been hiked for the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in the State.

The registration fees have now risen to Rs 1,180 this year, on account of GST.

In comparison, the registration fees were Rs 1,000 last year and Rs 300 for the earlier editions of IFFI.

The decision to hike the registration fees has not gone down well among many delegates and film lovers.

“The business is already affected due to the Covid pandemic and in this situation, the registration fees have now been hiked. Instead, the government should have lowered the registration fees this year considering the Covid situation,” said Shirish Gaitonde, a film lover.

Another film lover denounced the hike in registration fee as unjust, considering that the number of days of IFF had been reduced.

Offline registration for delegates had begun from September 6 for the 52nd edition of IFFI, which is scheduled to take place from November 20 to 28.
