The Cuncolim police have registered a FIR against some persons for illegally manufacturing whiskey by adulteration and loading the liquor on a Eicher truck for transportation and supplying to an unknown destination for human consumption.
The truck was seized by the Cuncolim police on November 7 during a raid on the vehicle near the Power House, Cuncolim industrial estate.
Police stated that the accused person namely Ramesh Kumar Prajapat and other unknown accused person with their common intention illegally manufactured the 458 Cartoons (3957.120 liters) of liquor bottles of 180 ml each styled as "Evergreen Reserve Whiskey" worth Rs 57,15,840.
The police further stated that the activity was conducted without obtaining necessary permissions from the concerned authorities and without paying necessary fees to the Government, thereby cheating the government for revenue.
Police said the liquor could have resulted in spreading of infectious deceases and endangering human life.
The Eicher vehicle along with the liquor bottles are attached under the panchanama.
A FIR under section 125, 273, 274, 318(4) r/w 3(5) of BNS and Sec 30 (a) and (b) of Goa Excise Duty Act 1964 has been registered by the Cuncolim police.
