Vjiai Monte Cruz representing Impala Distilleries on Tuesday asserted that there was no 25-year lease agreement with Viking Beverages Ltd as is claimed by the latter and revealed that Impalla and Vikings had only entered into a brewing agreement.
He further said that Impala Distilleries has sent notices to the breweries not to produce Goa Kings, pointing out to an agreement mandating the production of Goa Kings only at Impala Distilleries.
Addressing the media, Vijai termed as false the allegations that Vikings Beverages had 25-year lease agreement with Impala, asserting that the two units had only entered into a brewing agreement and nothing else. “I do not know how Vikings has claimed that there’s a 25-year lease agreement. I would like someone to ask Vikings to make this agreement public. There is no such agreement and they are fooling the public. In fact, they are forcing us to sign a fresh agreement for 25 years which our management is not ready as they have no fulfilled our old agreement,” Vijai said.
He said the two units only had a 42-month brewing agreement which was signed in 2014 and it expired in April last year. Saying that Goa Kings cannot be produced anywhere else, besides Impala as per the contract, Vijai said, “We have sent legal notices to other breweries producing Goa Kings and to even breweries which intend to produce it for Vikings.”
