"Very often the decisions could not be taken as the gram sabha could not achieve a quorum. We have now decided that in each hamlet they can hold meetings and achieve a hamlet gram sabha quorum and introduce the scheme. I have already given direction to all the collectors that this is the procedure to be followed," Gaude told the Assembly while replying to the discussion on demands for grants to the Tribal Affairs department.
"By December there will be effective implementation of the Tribal Rights Act," Gaude assured. Several legislators raised the issues of implementation of the Act as well as the status of implementation of the schemes under the various Tribal Acts.
Taleigao MLA Jennifer Monserrate had sought that the income limits that are needed to be eligible for the scheme need to be raised in order that more people can become eligible under the scheme.
"Our intention is to make all schemes income free. We will either remove it or take it up to Rs 6 lakh," Gaude said.
