In the wake of the rising threat of the Delta virus and a third Covid wave, Belagavi police have intensified checking of vehicles entering Belagavi district via Chorla Ghat.

Khanapur police teams have been posted at a special check-post set up near Kankumbi to check every person and vehicle entering Belagavi district.

“According to orders by the district administration and as per directions of SP Laxman Nimbargi, people from Goa entering Karnataka must carry either an RT-PCR negative report or a certificate of having taken at least one dose of vaccination. Those who do not have any one of these requirements are being sent back,” said Khanapur PI Suresh Shingi.

Along with the police, staff of other departments are also assisting the police in checking the vehicles.

A 24x7 vigilance has been set up at the border check post amid heavy rains lashing the region.
