Indigo flight operations were affected at Dabolim airport on Tuesday, after around 250 workers linked to the airlines went on a flask strike demanding salary hike and change in the duty manager.
Sources said the protesting workers were not direct employees of the airline but were operating through another company offering various services to the airline.
Aggrieved workers told media persons that they had been striking at the Airport since 7 am on Tuesday and till evening, had not got any response from their company regarding their demands.
The aggrieved workers complained that some workers who had been retrenched after crossing 60 years had no clarity over their provident fund and demanded that their dues be settled.
Workers also complained that salaries had not been hiked since the last three years and the existing salaries were not enough to make ends meet, with rising prices of basic requirements like food, travel and rent.
"A salary of Rs 10,000 is not enough for school fees of children, room rent, travel and other requirements," said a worker.
Another worker said they would resume duties only after there is a change in duty manager.
“We spoke to the company management about our issues. They sought one week to respond to us but it has been over two weeks and there has been no solution to our grievances.”
“We only want the removal of some officials who are harassing us and a salary hike," said the worker.
