Resting on the lap of his father, Prajot, on the Hospicio bed, the infant has been repeatedly asking for his mother, only to be consoled by near and dear ones. Doctors attending to Prutvik said the infant has been kept under observation, though the X-ray report does not suggest any major injuries on his body.
Prutvik was brought to Hospicio by an unknown woman, believed to be hailing from Sanvordem after she spotted the infant crawling out from the ill-fated truck which mowed the two-wheeler, thus killing both his mother and grandmother on the spot.
Dillon Desai, a resident of Cuncolim, told The Goan at Hospicio that the unknown woman came straight to Hospicio from the accident spot with the child by bus and handed him over to the doctors. “The woman informed us that as she saw the child crawling out from under the truck, she took him in her arms before she boarded a Margao-bound bus and brought Prutvik to Hospicio,” Dillon said.
The child was crying for the mother when he was taken for the X-ray and relented only after his father, Prajot, who is employed at SAG ground, Cuncolim, appeared at the hospital.
Gloom descended at Culvado in Cuncolim as news of the tragic death of the duo spread across the town on Wednesday evening. While many rushed to the accident spot at Tilamol after news trickled in Cuncolim, neighbours and relatives made their presence felt at Hospicio later in
the evening.
The bodies of Prutvik’s mother and grandmother are preserved at the TB hospital mortuary. The post mortem is expected to be performed on
Thursday morning.
