PANAJI: The prime accused in the Santa Cruz double murder case Norman Fernandes, was on Saturday convicted by the District and Sessions Court, Panaji.
Norman was convicted under Section 302, 307 and 452 of the IPC by the District and Sessions Judge D B Deshpande.
In an incident which took place on September 2, 2013 over a property dispute, Norman Fernandes had stabbed his sister Noreen Fernandes e Vaz and her mother-in-law Aurita Anes e Vaz to death, besides seriously wounding his brother-in-law at their residence in Santa Cruz on September 2, 2013. After committing the offence, while fleeing from the spot with two other accused had inflicted injuries on himself (on neck and hand) with a knife.
During the course of investigation, Norman had confessed committing of the crime to the police after which the police had recovered the knife from Caranzalem Beach, which was thrown by Norman.
