Stating that a low proxy war is being waged against India by an enemy country, Director General of Police Jaspal Singh informed that today internal security is the biggest challenge faced by the nation.

Singh was speaking during the Kargil Vijay Diwas commemoration at Azad Maidan on Tuesday, which was organised by All Goa Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh said the Kargil War was an example of the offensive power of the Indian armed forces as they were able to give a sound reply to the misadventures by the enemy country.

“Also, young officers played a big role in the victory in the Kargil War and I request the youth to join the security forces to show who their love for the nation. The biggest service to the nation is by joining the armed forces but today, there is shortage of officers in the armed forces,” Singh informed and appealed to the youth to join the armed forces in large numbers.

“However, today the internal security is the biggest challenge faced by our nation. Low proxy war is waged against India by our enemy country but our security forces are working with police and paramilitary forces, particularly in Srinagar and North East, to tackle any misadventures by such enemies,” he stated.

Earlier, wreaths were laid at the martyrs memorial by DGP Singh, president of All Goa Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association president Anant Joshi, Sainik Welfare Department secretary Lt Col Venugopal Nair, Commanding Officer 1 Goa Batallion NCC Col Manoj Rathod and CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate.

Prizes were also distributed to students who won in the essay competition on the Kargil War.
