The four-day International Deaf Summit “ 2020 got underway at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on Thursday with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant extending all-out support to the cause of the special children, including the hearing impaired.
Addressing the delegates, including the 100-odd international delegates after inaugurating the summit in the presence of Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat and officials, Chief Minister congratulated the organisers for having the summit in Goa.
To a request of the organisers to extend special attention to the hearing impaired persons in higher education, the Chief Minister assured to positively consider the demand. He also said the government will try to resolve all the issues and problems affecting the hearing impaired in the state.
“I don’t want to assure you that all your problems will be resolved overnight, but this government will definitely try to address them one by one,” he added.
The Chief Minister said that the International Deaf Summits will help the special children, including the hearing impaired.
In his brief address, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat said this is the first time such a summit is being held in the city of Margao while extending his full support to the event.
The event will be held in collaboration with the Goa state chapter of the International Human Rights Association and is jointly organised by the Deaf Leaders Foundation, Tamil Nadu, Deaf Care Foundation, Bhopal and Inspir-alive, Mumbai.
The event will consist of 6th India Deaf Exposition, 4th Deaf Festival 7th India international Deaf Film festival. The event includes film contest, deaf beauty contest and deaf talent search.
