the goan I networkrMARGAO rCondemning the desecration of crosses at Curchorem, the Aam Aadmi Party on Monday said the motive behind these incidents is to polarize the people of Goa for selfish political gains by the mainstream parties, who have nothing to show in terms of governance and performance. rAddressing the media, AAP Goa spokesperson Venzy Viegas said the Curchorem desecration took place in spite of the police being on alert. r“This indicates that those behind these deplorable acts are not deranged, but highly motivated individuals.”r“AAP is confident that the people of Goa will rise above such lowly, communal acts and continue to maintain high levels of amity for which we are historically known,” he said. The AAP has demanded that the top brass of the Goa police put in all the resources at their disposal to investigate the desecration cases. r“These incidents, which have begun to worry Goans, must be investigated and the culprits brought to book at the earliest,” Venzy said. rHe took an exception to the demand made by newly-appointed GPCC President Shantaram Naik to hand over the desecration cases to the CBI, saying the Goa police should investigate the cases and nab the culprits.r“Instead, Shantaram should demand that cases pertaining to IDC, EDC and Rahejas be handed over to the CBI,” he said. AAP leader Sidharth Karapurkar lamented that certain people are trying turn Goa into UP and Bihar. ‘Our politicians are trying to polarize the society on religious lines,” he said, while expressing confidence that people of Goa will not fall prey to the machinations and the divide and rule policy of the politicians.
