I-SAT machines in pipeline for health centres in Goa

VALPOI
All government health centres will be equipped with I-SAT machines, a point-of-care testing equipment which can be used to test 28 parameters, said the Health Minister while addressing a gathering after launching a free eye check-up and surgery camp at Valpoi under the ‘Vision For All’ initiative. Others present were Director of Health Services Dr Jose D'Sa, Dr Rajesh Parab (MD of Colorcon Asia), Dr Vandana Dhume, Valpoi CHC Health Officer Dr Shyam Kankonkar and ZP members.

Hundreds of people registered for the camp and medicines, spectacles and surgeries would be provided free of cost to needy patients.

During his interaction with the people, the Health Minister shared his vision of setting up an ophthalmic hospital in Sankhali, to be equipped with all super-speciality techniques to ensure superior eye care treatment.

“Following suggestions from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, a proposal will be worked out to set up an ophthalmic hospital in Sankhali, which will cater to people in Bicholim and Sattari talukas,” said the Minister.

He also announced that all health centres -- CHCs and PHCs -- would be equipped with I-SAT machines, a point-of-care testing equipment which can be used to test 28 parameters.

The Minister said the chief minister held a review meeting of the hospitals, which also included the full-fledged functioning of South Goa district hospital, Curchorem hospital, Tuem hospital and some other hospitals.

‘Vision for All’ is an effort of the BJP-led government to provide healthcare at the doorstep of people, especially senior citizens who are reluctant to visit hospitals for their eye check-up due to the Covid pandemic, he said.
