The Goa State Haj Committee on Friday strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack at Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of several innocent tourists.
Addressing the media in Vasco, Chairman Urfan Mulla said such acts of terrorism go against the teachings of Islam and send a wrong message to the world.
“Islam does not promote violence or give anyone the right to kill. What happened in Pahalgam is inhumane, and the entire Muslim community stands against it,” Mulla said, expressing grief over the tragic incident.
With slogans of ‘Pakistan Murdabad’, Mulla asserted that Indian Muslims, especially from Goa, would firmly support the nation in its fight against terrorism.
“We will stand with India and support all efforts to end such cowardly acts. The innocent lives lost must be avenged,” he added.
Turning his attention to the upcoming Haj pilgrimage, Mulla informed that around 80 Hajis from Goa will be departing for Saudi Arabia from Mumbai.
“A vaccination drive for all pilgrims is scheduled to be held at Anjuman Hall on Saturday. With the support of the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, we have ensured all necessary arrangements are in place,” he said.
He further added that the pilgrims will travel by train from Margao to Mumbai on May 20, and their flight from Mumbai to Jeddah is scheduled for May 22.
Mulla also announced that special orientation camps for Haj pilgrims would be conducted at various locations, including Vasco, to brief them on the pilgrimage process and important travel guidelines.
