QUEPEM
Admitting that there may be differences of opinion between him and some councillors, Opposition Leader and Quepem MLA Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar has, however, insisted that he would not let it affect the development of Quepem town.
He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the work to repair and tar inner roads in Quepem town.
One project is being carried out at Ward 11 (Condy) and rituals were performed in presence of PWD Engineer Santosh Dessai, senior citizen Jose Colaco and others.
The inauguration for hotmixing of roads was also done at Ward 7 (Tolleaband) in the presence of Ward Councilor Luiza Carvalho, former councillor Catty Fernandes and other villagers. Both projects are estimated to cost Rs 3.2 lakh.
Kavlekar assured to fulfill all election promises and admitted some were delayed due to some foreseen reasons.
“There might be differences of opinions between some councilors and me, but I will not let it affect the development of Quepem town,” said Kavlekar.
Although maintenance, widening and hot-mixing of main roads in Condy ward was done before elections, a portion of the inner road was left out as the width of the road is narrow and water has been clogging in the area as there is no stormwater drain to that road. Kavlekar has assured to look into the problem of the stormwater drainage.
