Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has damageD humanity, tarnished Goa's image, tourism and has derailed the process of women empowerment with his insensitive statement justifying rape and blaming rape survivors and their parents, said Girish Chodankar while speaking at Sadbuddhi Yatra organised at Chief Minister’s Sakhali constituency to pray for sadbuddhi for Sawant. Chodankar was accompanied by Senior Congress leaders of Sakhali and party office bearers.

Chodankar said that it is unfortunate that people have to pray for sadbuddhi to the Chief Minister on the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak who had given us famous slogan 'Swaraj is my birth right and I shall have it'.

Bouquet and candles which were brought to hand over to Sawant was handed over to Dy Collector Dipak Vaigankar By District President Vijay Bhike.

"Police did not allow our peaceful march near Sakhali hospital as CM was so afraid," GPCC Chief said.

Chodankar condemned the high handedness of police. In today's police action Congress workers including NSUI members were targeted, and Devsurabhi Yaduvanshi's clothes were torn.

PCC Secretary Dharmesh Saglani strongly condemned Sawant statement and stated that he has done irreversible damage to tourism industry.

Former Mahila President & PCC General Secretary Sunita Verenkar criticised Sawant for his anti-women remark, she said that  such thoughts can emerge only from sick mind.

Mahila Congress President Bina Naik said said CM himself should introspect instead of asking parents to introspect. It is his duty to see the law and order of the State and not of individuals. She asked the CM, ‘Why is he not giving advice to those who take drugs and drinks’.

GPCC Spokesmen Tulio D’Souza asked CM why he had called so many police personnel in Sanquelim when Congress has decided to follow Gandhiji’s principle of Sadhbhavna march.
