CANACONA: About 60 Indian Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) deployed in Canacona for poll-related duty staged a flag march in entire Canacona constituency to reassure the electorate about law and order in their areas.
The ITBP was accompanied by Canacona Constituency Returning Officer and SDO Kedar Naik, Joint Mamlatdar Canacona Dattaraj Gauns Desai, Canacona PI Philomeno Costa, besides other staff during the flag march.
The flag march was initially held from the Deputy Collectorate Complex to KTC bus terminus from KTC to Char-Rasta, Char-Rasta to Bhagatwada, Bhagatwada to Palolem.
Similarly, flag march was also held from Agonda outpost to the beach and also covered Polem, Maxem, Loliem and Poinguinim areas, informed Canacona PI Costa.
The ITBP are deployed to ascertain confidence of the electorate in law-enforcing authorities and also to maintain and enable free and fair canvassing for the February 4 assembly elections, sources added.
