Nationalist Congress Party lone MLA in the Goa Legislative Assembly, Churchill Alemao on Friday questioned the reported moves to dislodge Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, asserting that he has extended his support to the Chief Minister and not to the BJP government.

Churchill went to the extent of saying that the Chief Minister should not be disturbed from his chair, terming Pramod Sawant as an able and good administrator,

meting out justice to all people, irrespective of caste

and creed.

Saying he has not received any intimation from the NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar or any other leader on the formation of any alliance government in Goa, the Benaulim MLA questioned the moves to dislodge the Pramod Sawant government.

Without referring to any particular leader or party, Churchill demanded to know why these people did not utter a word when Manohar Parrikar was in power. “I am surprised that attempts are being made by some politicians to dislodge Chief Minister Pramod Sawant from office. What wrong has the Chief Minister done so far to these people when he has been working for the common man and the downtrodden?” he questioned and asserted that the Chief Minister, who hails from the Bahujan Samaj, should not be disturbed.

Clarifying that he is not supporting the BJP government, but has only extended support to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Churchill recalled that he had in the past spurned offers to join the BJP when Atal Behari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister.

“I have only extended support to the Chief Minister and not to the BJP because Pramod Sawant is a good administrator and is working for the interest and welfare of the common man,” he added.
