MAPUSA: A guard at the Colvale jail has been arrested on charges of smuggling drugs into the facility on Saturday noon.
An IRB cop recovered 50 gms of Ganja from the accused, Rama Korgaonkar, of Revora, while frisking him when he reported for duty.
Mapusa Police said the accused was allegedly trying to smuggle the narcotic substance wrapped in an insulation tape.
Police has registered an offence under Sections 20 (b) (ii) (A) of NDPS Act against the accused.
According to sources, the accused was earlier involved in a similar incident and was also suspended. In 2018, he was found smuggling tobacco products inside the jail premises.
