Janet is Canacona Lion Queen
CANACONA: Janet Arauzo (25) of St Cruz and a professor in Shri Mallikarjun College of Arts & Commerce, Canacona, was crowned Canacona Lions Queen at the annual Lions nite on Sunday.
Ashwariya Raikar, an engineering student of Karwar Engineering College, was the runners-up.
The 15th traditional Lions dance was held at Molyma open air hall, on the occasion of the feast of St Thereza of Jesus Church, Chaudi.
Over 15 girls participated in the contest, anchored by Nelvyn Fernandes. Arauzo received the winners sash and crown along with gifts and hampers from Kathleen Fernandes. Raikar received her runners up crown and gifts from Fransquinho Fernandes.
Canacona Lions president Motesino Fernandes, secretary Ulhas Phaldessai, treasurer Gopichand Vernekar, besides other members, Mario Fernandes, Manuel Martins, Dr Vilas Pawaskar, Lawrence Barretto, Lyzya Fernandes were present.
