Javadekar's effigy burnt over Mhadei issue, detained Congmen released

PANAJI

Opposing the manner in which Union Minister for Environmental and Forest Prakash Javadekar has handled the Mhadei water dispute, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee on Saturday resorted to  burning his effigy outside the Congress House in Panaji.

Congress leader Amaranth Panjikar lashed out against the BJP Union Minister and said Javadekar has no right to visit Goa.

The Congress also termed as "illegal" the detention of 10 of its leaders on Friday night for barging into a five-star hotel where Javadekar is staying and demanding to meet him. The leaders were detained after they began chanting slogans such as "Javadekar go back" in the hotel lobby.  However, all the 10 Congressmen have been released after they were produced before the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Panaji on Saturday afternoon.
