Jesuits in Goa Province get new Provincial

PANAJI

Fr Pedro Rodrigues has been named as the new provincial of the Goa Province of the Jesuits.

The announcement was made by the Superior General of the of Jesus. Rev. Fr. Arturo Sosa SJ on Thursday.

Fr Pedro Rodrigues, who hails from Aldona, was born to the late Napolean Rodrigues and late Anatilda Rodrigues,

He pursued his schooling at St Thomas High School in Aldona. followed by a BA from St Xavier's College, Mapusa, and a BEd. from Nirmala Institute of Education (Goa University). Fr. Pedro furthered his studies with a Masters in Arts in History and a Masters in Education from Karnataka University.

As part of his priestly formation, he completed his Bachelors in Philosophy at JD, Pune and his Bachelors in Theology from Vidyajyoti College. Delhi. He was ordained priest in 2002 and pronounced his Final Vows in 2010.

Fr Pedro's professional journey has rooted in education, serving as Vice-Principal of St Britto High Mapusa. and later as Principal of Loyola High Margao, St Paul's High and Higher Secondary in Belagavi, and Loyola Higher Secondary School in Margao.

He was instrumental in beginning the Loyola Higher Secondary Margao and St Paul's Pre-University College, Belagavi.

He represented the Goa Province as a member of the Procurators Congregation in Spain and is presently serving as the Superior of Pedro Institute in Raia.

“We extend our heartfelt wishes for God’s blessings as Fr Pedro begins this new mission of leadership and service,” said Fr Roland Coelho, present provincial of the Goa Province.
