He was speaking at the 34th annual function of Goa Hindu Association’s Sneh Mandir at Bandora. Benegal was felicitated by Hindu Association president Suresh Kare.
Sneha Mandir is a social and charitable trust, established in 1982 to provide succor to needy elders, who by force of circumstances are denied a family life.   “Living in joint families always gives us good support, but nowadays people prefer nuclear families. Hence, old persons find support in such old age homes,” Benegal said.
He praised the work of Sneh Mandir for providing support to seniors citizens living there.
Suresh Kare also spoke on the occasion.
Noted Indian film and theatre director Vijaya Mehata was felicitated by Benegal, while Raghunath Jogalekar and Vasant Bambolkar were felicitated by Kare. Noted artist Padmashri Laxman was felicitated by Suresh Amonkar on the occasion. Dr Ajay Vaidya compered the programme.
