Jose Philip dares Almeida, says

Former minister and NCP state president Jose Philip D'Souza on Sunday challenged Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida to prove that he added “Sambhaji” to Vasco-da-Gama through the March 17, 2011, gazette.
“If he proves it, I will quit politics and if not, he should resign as MLA,” stated D’Souza while while addressing the media at a city hotel.
“While fooling the media and general public during his recent media briefing, Almeida placed before the media the March 17, 2011, gazette and alleged that I have added Sambhaji to Vasco-da-Gama. However, he failed to produce the 1970/71 government gazette, which had already added Sambhaji to Vasco-da-Gama,” said D’Souza.
“The March 17, 2011, notification was issued to create new Dharbandora taluka and not to add Sambhaji,” clarified D'Souza.
He further said Sambhaji was not added to Vasco-da-Gama on the new ration cards issued in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Besides the ration cards, the then government also issued Aadhar and new election cards and no where Sambhaji was added to Vasco-da-Gama.
“When Sambhaji was not added, then how suddenly it is added to the new ration and National Food Security cards,” he asked.
“BJP has a hidden agenda. It added Sambhaji to new ration and National Food Security cards as an experiment to check people's reaction and if general public had to keep quiet, then the BJP government would have immediately changed Vasco-da-Gama toSambhaji,” said D'Souza.
“Vasco-da-Gama will remain as Vasco-da-Gama and the government should remove Sambhaji from all the new ration and National Food Security cards immediately, failing which I along with general public will come on the road,” warned D’Souza.
“I urge Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar to conduct an impartial inquiry and find out who directed the Civil Supplies director to print Sambhaji and penalise the culprit.”
Adv Avinash Bhosle said the matter is of serious concern and the BJP government is having a hidden agenda. “Citizens of entire Goa have sentiments attached to the city Vasco-da-Gama, even Lord Damodar festival is known as Vasco Saptah,” said Bhosle.
“The government should remove Sambhaji from the cards immediately, failing which we will urge the legislators to raise the issue in the forthcoming assembly session,” he added.
NCP senior vice-president and spokesperson Trajano D'Mello said no officer will make such a big mistake without government's consent. “If Sambhaji was added without the knowledge, the officer would have been suspended by now,” he added.

VASCO: NCP senior vice-president and spokesperson Trajano D’Mello has condemned the act of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar of going ahead with his 60th birthday celebrations when Chennai was reeling under flood calamity.
Briefing the media on Sunday, D'Mello said it was sad that while the defence officials are busy rendering their valuable services to help the flood-affected victims, the defence minister has failed to visit the flood-affected State.
“The whole nation is sending relief material to the flood-affected State, but the Goa Government so far failed to allot grants to the devastated state of Chennai,” added D’Mello.
“The attitude of the State government has exposed its hypocrisy about claiming India first, as they failed to render help to the victims in Chennai, who are also Indians,” he added.
D’Mello said BJP national president Amit Shah during the recently concluded Bihar election stated that if BJP loses the Bihar elections, then crackers would burst in Pakistan, but while the people in Chennai are suffering, crackers will burst in Goa to celebrate Parrikar's 60th birthday.
