VASCO
Indicating his willingness to contest the next assembly elections from the Dabolim constituency NCP State President and former Vasco MLA Jose Philip D’Souza on Tuesday said an alliance of like-minded parties was essential only to prevent any split in secular votes.
“I have received a lot of support from people in neighbouring Dabolim constituency and they have met me with several issues in the constituency.”
“Many are requesting me to contest from Dabolim constituency. At the moment, I cannot openly comment on whether I will contest from Vasco or Dabolim and I will take a call in a few days," said D’Souza.
"I have done a lot of work in Vasco and finally, my victory depends on my supporters and things will get clear after a decision is taken on an alliance with like-minded parties.”
D’Souza insisted that discussions on allying with like-minded parties should happen soon so that there is no confusion among people.
"If there is an alliance between like-minded parties, secular votes will not be divided and if we move forward from here with an alliance, it will be good for everyone concerned.”
“This should not be misunderstood by other parties that we are weak, but we have done our homework and we have the capacity to place candidates everywhere but we don't want to make a mess.”
“During the last assembly elections, this proposal was refused and this time, we are only insisting that an alliance is set up soon," said D’Souza.
