Jose Philip rushes to Mumbai

MARGAO
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Goa unit Chief Jose Philip D’Souza air dashed to Mumbai on Sunday to discuss the political situation with party top leaders following reports that party lone MLA Churchill Alemao is bracing up to embrace the Trinamool Congress party.

Speaking to The Goan from Mumbai, where he had gone to extend birthday wishes to NCP supremo Sharad Pawar and party national general secretary Praful Patel on Sunday, D’Souza said he has not received the resignation of Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao. When asked to react to reports that Churchill might merge the party legislative wing into the TMC, D’Souza shot back, “How can he do like that. If he does not want to stay with the party, it is his decision. The normal course would have been for the MLA to resign and join the party he wants”. He said the party national leadership will take a call on the future course of action if Churchill decides to merge the NCP legislative wing in the TMC.
