In a letter to the chief minister, GUJ president Sadguru Patil said that the restrictions would severely hamper the functioning of journalists who are only performing their duties.
“Recently, many a times, we have experienced that security guards are restraining journalists who are visiting the ministerial block as part of their duty. Over the last few days, many journalists have expressed the concern about your government’s move. We as a union of the Goa Union of Journalists are completely against such a plan as it will create hurdles in our duty,” the letter reads. The journalist body alleged that such moves being thought of by the CM would only hamper transparency in the functioning of government. “We hereby request you to kindly drop your plans to put restrictions on the entry of journalists in the ministerial block and the secretariat,” the letter reads.
