An argument over the price of coconut water took a violent turn when a juice centre owner was accused of assaulting a tourist from Rajasthan with an iron rod.
The incident occurred at 11.30 am on Thursday at Madani-Parra, when Plaintiff Deshraj Meena (28) of Rajasthan and a friend had gone to the juice centre to drink coconut water.
The tourist was unhappy that the coconut water was priced at Rs 80. An argument then broke out between Meena and the juice centre owner Gorakhnath Gad of Parra.
Gad is alleged to have assaulted the tourist with an iron rod, causing his injuries. He waslater shifted to the district hospital for treatment.
Acting on a complaint, Mapusa police arrested the accused under Sections 504 and 324 of IPC. He was released by a court in Mapusa on conditional bail. Further investigation is being conducted by Mapusa Police Head Constable Mahesh Shetgaonkar.
