VASCO
Work on the cross drains was launched at New Vaddem junction in Vasco on Thursday morning.
Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar along with municipal councillors launched the works on the project and added that hotmixing of all internal roads at New Vaddem would be taken after completion of the project. Both projects are estimated to cost Rs 1.2 crore.
“New Vaddem area is a very important part of Vasco constituency but had been neglected for a long time. The residents had been demanding the construction of the cross drain at New Vaddem junction and hotmixing of internal roads for 20-30 years now,” said Salkar.
“The cross drains are important at this junction because New Vaddem is located on a hill and during monsoons, rainwater flows down with full force bringing along mud and stones as well. This causes a lot of inconvenience to the people and also leads to accidents at the location.”
